WHEN TALK IS NOT ENOUGH:
NON-VERBAL TECHNIQUES FOR ALL CLINICIANS
By
Susan Spiegel, PhD, Alexis Selwood, PhD, Linda Waters, PhD
Increasingly, neurobiology emphasizes the importance of the mind-body connection. As clinicians, we help clients understand this connection. We use somatic-mindfulness as an effective pathway to deeper levels of therapeutic awareness and behavioral change. This presentation will provide an introduction to non-verbal techniques that facilitate somatic-mindfulness. These are techniques that every clinician can easily use in their practice.
Participants of this workshop will be introduced to:
How to integrate non-verbal techniques into their psychotherapy practice.
The importance of understanding how our bodies hold our histories, both traumatic and developmental.
A demonstration of working non-verbally with boundary issues.
A demonstration of how drawing can increase somatic-mindfulness..
