Explanation of the SBIRT Model for getting people with addiction into treatment quickly, review of how it's used in different settings, followed by a demonstration of a new database application developed for clinical social workers.


      Learning Objectives:

      At the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:

      1. Describe the scope and prevalence of substance use in the U.S. at this time through the lens of Systems Theory.
      2. Demonstrate understanding of the SBIRT Model by recognizing its 3 basic components.
      3. Identify 3 barriers to substance abuse treatment in the U.S. at this time and at least one way to overcome these barriers.

        ABOUT THE PRESENTERS

        Tracy Greene Mintz, LCSW

        Tracy Greene Mintz, LCSW, is a trainer and social service consultant based in Southern California. She is a nationally recognized expert on the topic of Relocation Stress Syndrome (Transfer Trauma) in the elderly and offers workshops and online instruction to interdisciplinary clinicians and non-clinical staff in eldercare. Through her company, Senior Care Training, she has trained thousands of nursing home workers throughout the U.S. in medically-related social services, geriatric behavioral health, dementia care, and elder abuse prevention. She holds a master’s degree in social work and a gerontology certificate from the Institute on Aging at Portland State University in Oregon and master’s degree in film and television from UCLA. She maintains a small mental health private practice as a Medicare Part B Provider, working in outpatient rehabilitation and house calls to seniors and their families. She is currently serving her second term as Treasurer for the California Society for Clinical Social Work.

        Amee Gray

        Amee Gray has has been building access to healthcare solutions for 2 decades. Prior to building a technology marketplace solution for addiction and mental health, Amee helped to connect catastrophic injury patients with physicians and vital services for those who were suffering from traumatic brain injuries, spine injuries and severe burns. With RecoverWell, Amee uses her vast knowledge of healthcare systems and network solutions to address the issues that are devastating our communities: addiction and mental health. Utilizing technology as a conduit for fast and effective access, RecoverWell is bridging the gap between crisis and recovery to help reduce the occurrence of relapse, overdose deaths and suicide. Amee holds advanced degrees in anthropology and demographic analytics, communications, education and marketing.


        This Workshop meets the qualifications for 2.0 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. 

        Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.

        Attendance and Registration Policies  

        • Non-members of CSCSW will be charged: $10 admission
        • For CEU’s there will be an additional charge of: $10 per CEU ($15 for 1.5 CEU’s; $20 for 2 CEU’s)
        • CSCSW Members and students will continue to attend and receive CEUs for free

        • 14 days or more before event date: Full refund
        • 13-7 days before event date: 75% refund
        • 6 days or less before event date: No refund
