Self care: A Journey Towards Wellness Part 2 with Nik Alenkin and additional presentation on Trauma Informed Yoga by Emily Plain

Key area of focus will be wellness and self-care with an emphasis on practical skill sets. In this session we will concentrate on the ins and outs of a wellness plan and how to create one that is both practical and achievable.

Learning Objectives:

By the end of this workshop, participants will understand:

  1. Participants will learn about wellness plans
  2. Participants will review a practical wellness plan and create one for their own use.
  3. Participants will learn how yoga can assist with self-care, stress management, trauma and vicarious trauma.

Dr. Nikola Alenkin, LCSW

Dr. Alenkin, LCSW earned his BASW from California State University, Los Angeles in October 1996 and his MSSW from Columbia University (New York) in 1997. His Doctorate in Social Policy and Social Research was granted in June 2011 from Loma Linda University. Dr. Alenkin has held various professional and clinical positions within the federal government and the private sector. He has been employed as a supervisory social worker for the Dept. of Veteran Affairs. His current research focuses on aging veterans and PTSD treatment outcomes, which was funded in the past by the John A. Hartford Foundation. He has conducted research in the area of secondary stress/compassion fatigue, mindfulness interventions with clinicians, clinical practice with survivors of genocide, and transgender populations.

Emily Plain, LCSW

Emily Plain, LCSW earned her MSW from the University of Southern California and has specialized training and certifications in Trauma Informed Yoga, Yoga and Mindfulness for PTSD, Yoga for Veterans and Yoga for Military Sexual Trauma. She is currently employed as a social worker in the public sector working with addiction and severe mental illness. She also serves as the Greater Los Angeles District Coordinator at the California Society for Clinical Social Work

Workshop Logistics: After registering you will receive a link to the ZOOM webinar.

This WORKSHOP meets the qualifications for 1.5 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.
