This training will provide a brief overview of effectiveness of CBTp, therapeutic process of CBT, and tools to help clinicians work with clients with hallucinations, delusions, and paranoia.

Learning Objectives:

Participants will:

  1. Learn to use evidence-based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach for the treatment of psychosis.
  2. Learn how to engage, collaborate, and normalize symptoms with individuals with psychosis.
  3. Understand the role of formulation in providing direction for treatment.
  4. Learn various tools for helping clients with delusions, hallucinations, and paranoia.

            About the Presenter:

            Ms. Jayyousi, LCSW, LPCC, received her Bachelor's degree in Psychology and her Master's in Social Work from San Diego State University. She has over 25 years of experience in diverse settings, including inpatient behavioral health, intensive outpatient, non-profit organizations and private practice setting. Ms. Jayyousi has direct practice and administration experience. She is a full-time lecturer at Cal State University San Marcos, and continues to manage an outpatient behavioral health program focused on treatment of anxiety, depression and psychosis. She is passionate about social justice issues and advocates for the utilization of the recovery model in helping individuals from diverse backgrounds. She was a bilingual (Arabic) social worker for 9 years serving immigrants from the Middle East. She is currently serving on the board of CSCSW and is co-chairing the Diversity, Equity and Transformation Committee.

            This DISTRICT MEETING meets the qualifications for 2 hours of continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.

            Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.
