Presenter: Michael J. “Mick” Rogers, LCSW, MBA, ABD | Chair of CSCSW’s Ethics Committee, Practice II Instructor, MSW I Field Seminar Instructor, Field Faculty Advisor at Smith College School for Social Work, Private Practice
Description:
Political events have entered psychotherapy for many clients, forcing therapists to deal with environmental and political concerns. This interactive program looks at these issues from ethical and clinical perspectives. Participants will apply what is learned in small groups that look at clinical vignettes from an ethical perspective. This will include exploration of when and how it is appropriate to include political discussions in therapy, and identification of when it is important to seek consultation for concerns including knowledge about cultural issues and resources, countertransference and ethical and clinical guidance.
Learning Objectives:
This course meets the qualifications for 2.0 hours of Law and Ethics continuing education credit for MFTs, LPCCs, LEPs and/or LCSWs as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
Note: With supervisor approval, registered ASWs may use CEs toward LCSW hours.
