Presenter: Paul Lesnik, LCSW

Description:  Family Sculpture, largely developed by Virginia Satir, has its roots in Psychodrama, an action based therapy that allows participants to explore their Family of Origin through enactment. Attendees will create a Social Atom, an illustration of their network of connections in their Family of Origin world and then have the opportunity to see a volunteer put the world of their family in action. Presentation is both didactic and heavily experiential.

Learning Objectives:
  1. Participants will learn the projective technique of the Social Atom, a pen and paper illustration of a client's network of connection in their Family of Origin
  2. Participants will identify doubling and role reversal, techniques of psychodrama, and their use in building a Family Sculpture in action.
  3. Participants will experience the utilization of Family Sculpture as a tool working with families and groups.
