What are the legal issues if a client contacts you on social media? What are the new laws and regulations around telehealth? Need law and ethic basics or need to be refreshed on the newest changes to the code of ethics? Do you know about the 2019 changes with the BBS? Let’s talk about how to ethically negotiate difficult terminations and transitions in your career with yourself or those you supervise. Come join us and Professor Myles Montgomery, LCSW in exploring all of these legal and ethical topics. This is a great chance to cover this topic with a dynamic speaker who is well versed in the legal language. This workshop fills Board of Behavioral Sciences requirements for license maintenance. Panera box lunch provided for all participants. 

Learning Objectives:

At the conclusion of the presentation participants will be able to:

  1. Participants will be able to identify and describe the four elements of malpractice causes of action.
  2. Participants will be able to recognize at least three new developments in laws governing supervision of ASWs.
  3. Participants shall be able to articulate at least three advantages and disadvantages to online therapy, while knowing how to respond to the disadvantages with caution.
  4. Participants will be able to recognize and know how to respond to at least three ethical issues involving important practice transitions (i.e., retirement, death, etc.).
