Presenters:  Ann Lieber, LMFT & Dr. Shannon Cooper, Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Description:

The focus of the workshop is to introduce a multi-cultural framework that helps clinicians to take a holistic approach/orientation to their clients. We will explore ethnicity, regional location, religion, SES, and several other areas including the importance of language in working with our clients. The Respectful Model of Counseling addresses how each clinician’s worldview plays a role in their counseling practice. Providing a safe environment among peers to explore these complex personal factors can be helpful in deepened your practice with a variety of clients.

Objectives:

  1. Gain an understanding and familiarity with Alan Ivey’s Respectful Model of Counseling.
  2. Maximize engagement with your clients regarding intersectionality of identity.
  3. Create secure therapeutic alliance with diverse clientele by exploring implicit bias.
