Learning Objectives:

Clinicians will:

  1. Learn criteria for the different eating disorders.
  2. Know how to differentiate between a diet, disordered eating and an eating disorder.
  3. Understand the harm of diet culture.
  4. Understand the impact of weight bias and weight stigma.
  5. Learn the weight neutral concept of Health at Every Size and what it means to be a HAES provider.
  6. Learn about the 10 principles of Intuitive Eating and how they can implement them in sessions with clients.

About the Presenter: 

Elisheva Dorfman (or Ellie) graduated from USC with her Masters in Family Therapy in 2008. She interned at the Homebound program (for adults with agoraphobia and other anxiety disorders) at the San Fernando Valley Community Mental Health Center, as well as at Jewish Family Services family and adolescent division. She also interned for a year at UCLA's anxiety disorders program. She is currently in private practice where she specializes in the treatment of feeding and eating disorders for children, adolescents and adults. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Eating Disorders and is also a Certified Intuitive Eating Counselor. She has extensive training in body image work and works with clients with body dissatisfaction, body dysmorphia or body image concerns. She is one of 3 clinicians in Los Angeles who is trained in Family Based Treatment for Eating Disorders (aka the Maudsley Method) which is the gold-standard for treating eating disorders in children and adolescents. She also specializes in early childhood feeding and works with families with pediatric feeding challenges, such as picky eating, weight concerns, food hoarding, over-eating, under-eating, and selective eating. She lectures and writes extensively on evidence based early childhood feeding practices and is passionate about helping parents raise children who are body-positive and have healthy relationships with food.


CEUs: 2.0 CEU hours for LCSW’.s, MFT’, and LPC’s. Note: Registered Associate Clinical Social Workers -- as long as your supervisor approves participation, you can now use CEs toward LCSW hours
