Presenter:  Lois Ingber, LCSW,

Description:

Alfred Adler, MD (1870-1937), along with Freud and Jung, was one of the three patriarchs of the field of psychology. He said, “Equality is the ironclad logic of social living.” Human beings are more likely to thrive in relationships of equality and mutual respect, and when these are absent or diminished, compensatory striving leads to symptomatic expressions and misbehaviors.

Through experiential activities, discussions and mini-lecture, Ms. Ingber, LCSW & Certified Positive Discipline Lead Trainer, will share tenets of Adlerian Psychology, neuroscience and political systems to show the connection between mental health and social justice. Practical tools from Positive Discipline which promote relationships of mutual respect will be shared for use with clients.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Participants will recognize how beliefs about belonging and significance relate to mental health and social justice, and influence relationship dynamics in the home, school and workplace.
  2. Participants will identify obstacles to making the shift from vertical to horizontal relationships as well as tools to facilitate the shift.
  3. Participants will learn Positive Discipline tools for use in their work with clients which build relationships of mutual respect.

About the Presenter:

Ms. Ingber, LCSW, has been a Trainer/Consultant in her private business since 2007. She offers trainings, workshops, consultation and classes for parents, schools, and groups in Positive Discipline and Adlerian Psychology
