The presentation will discuss the basics of starting your own private practice, including identifying your professional and business goals. Other topics covered will include ways to work with managed care, creating a professional network and ensuring best practices.

Objectives:

  1. Obtain an understanding of what it entails to establish a private practice
  2. To help identify professional goals of a social worker as it relates to establishing a private practice
  3. Understand importance of marketing and knowing your niche or specialty
  4. Learning how to adopt a business model perspective when establishing your private practice
  5. Learn more about managed care and the impact it has on obtaining referrals, and diagnosis
  6. Explore the pro’s and con’s of working with managed care
  7. Explain how to become an independent contractor and obtain IRS documentation
  8. Discuss the importance of consultation and ongoing trainings to ensure best practices.
