People’s internal difficulties in falling in love and in maintaining love relationships are among the most frequent issues faced by psychotherapists. Confronting these issues often involve the exploration of the deepest of human anxieties. This course explores the internal obstacles that prevent people from falling in love. How the experience of love realized can change a life is discussed. Romantic love versus carnal love, willful surrender versus enslavement and masochism and the timing of love and choice of lover are addressed.

Daniel Paul, Ph.D. is a Supervising and Training Analyst at the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. He is a Fellow of the International Psychoanalytical Association and the American Psychological Association. He has received a certificate in psychoanalysis from both the Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies and New York University’s program in Psychoanalysis and Psychotherapy. He has a specialty in and has written in the areas of the psychoanalysis of romantic love, adult survivors of childhood sexual abuse, the psychoanalysis of eating disorders and the treatment of the borderline and the psychotic personality. He is senior faculty at Los Angeles Institute and Society for Psychoanalytic Studies. He is in private practice in Beverly Hills.

Parking: In addition to street parking, two kosher markets, Glatt Mart and Elat, have given permission to use their parking spaces, behind their stores on Saturdays. They are both located on Pico Blvd, between Wooster and Shenandoah Streets. If you park in their lots, (on the South side of Pico) cross to the North side of Pico, and walk one long block north on Shenandoah St. to 1110 S. Shenandoah.
