Presenter: Natasha Singer, LCSW

Natasha Singer, LCSW,  works with couples, adults, and adolescents specializing in grief and loss, substance abuse, trauma, depression and anger management. Natasha completed her Masters at SUNY Albany, Rockefeller School of Social Work.  She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York and California as well as a NY and CA Certified Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor and a Certified Anger Management Specialist II.  Natasha is currently Clinical Director for Victory Detox Center in North Hollywood and joined the Glendale Adventist Hospital Bereavement program in July.  Additionally, she maintains a private practice in Studio City, Sacred Journeys Counseling, where she complements her clinical therapy with mind/body practice, relaxation exercises and yoga breath techniques which she has used since her certification as a yoga teacher in 1986. Since completing Level I and II in 2015 with the Association of Comprehensive Energy Psychology Natasha has added Thought Field therapy to her practice.

Natasha’s 25 years of experience includes Staff Social Worker at the Oneonta Fox Hospital Inpatient Psychiatric Unit and six years as the Director of Bereavement for Catskill Area Hospice.

Description: Natasha presents an academic and practical talk on Grief and Loss. Specifically, she will engage the audience in a discussion regarding myths about grief that are common in western society. She will discuss grief theories and symptoms of grief as well as differences between grief and depression. Finally, the importance of knowing cultural differences in the ways that people process grief will be covered.  Natasha will share some of her personal experience working through grief. 

Objectives:

  1. To identify and discuss the myths about grief and loss.
  2. To learn and be introduced to the theories of grief.
  3. To recognize the symptoms of grief.
  4. To define the difference between depression and grief.
  5. To gain awareness of cultural differences in processing grief.

Location Information: The Sherman Oaks Galleria Community Room is located at 15301 Ventura Blvd. Sherman Oaks, CA 91403

(The Community Room is located on the 1st level near the Cheesecake Factory and beyond the the Paul Mitchell and ATM).   VALIDATION FOR ALL DAY FREE PARKING will be given to the first 60 people at the meeting.
