Sacramento/Davis District Presents: Military Service and Moral Injury: General Concepts and Intervention Strategies
Description: Moral injury is the psychic trauma caused by acting, failing to act, or witnessing acts that conflict with a person’s core values. Over 200,000 US troops have been deployed to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of them multiple times. Through case studies, veterans’ writing and music and discussion, learn to recognize moral injuries and develop strategies for helping veterans heal these wounds that are endemic in war. In the process, we will join veterans in their grief and participate more fully in healing the nation that sent them to war.
