The American Association for Psychoanalysis in Clinical Social Work in joint sponsorship with THE SANVILLE INSTITUTE and the California Society for Clinical Social Work Presents: Becoming Mindful of What?: Integrating Mindfulness Meditation with a Psychoanalytic Practice
Description: Although “mindfulness” has become a familiar term, it is often thought of as something done outside of psychotherapy. Please join us for an exciting presentation, demonstrating the ways that a psychoanalytic psychotherapist has integrated her mindfulness-based meditation practice with her analytic psychotherapy. Dr. Redding will explain basic concepts of mindfulness. Using examples from her clinical practice, she will explore the ways that mindfulness-based meditation informs and deepens the holding and containing function of the psychotherapeutic process. She says that, “With the added dimension of mindful engagement, the clinician and patient have stronger access to inter-being states of relating.” As always there will be ample time for questions and discussion with our presenter.
