PRESENTATION SUMMARY: This presentation will discuss a number of approaches within mental health interventions that can help older adults who are facing challenges in aging.  Victor Frankl wrote about the importance of developing meaning in life, particularly when faced with seemingly overwhelming difficulties. The presentation will discuss ways in which meaning can be developed, including: a process of self-discovery, such as life review (e.g., Erik Erikson), finishing unfinished business (Hargrave & Anderson), facing existential issues & grappling with the finitude of life, developing or re-finding a spiritual life, and much more.

All meetings are held at our NEW LOCATION – Palo Alto Medical Foundation, 795 El Camino Real, Palo Alto. The meeting room is on the third floor next to the café. Parking below the building is available and free. Take the main elevator. Meeting time is 12:00 – 2:00PM with the first 15 minutes reserved for signing in and networking.  The presentation starts at 12:15PM following announcements. 1.5 CEUs will be offered for LCSWs, MFTs and LPCCs per meeting as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences. Members earn credits at no cost.
