“Professional Wills - Why You Need One & How to Get It Done.”
Overview:
The presentation will examine the ethical and clinical rationales for a Professional Will. Participants will explore the difficulties that may occur if no plan is in place and a practitioner is incapacitated or dies and discuss the types of information that should be included in a Professional Will. There will be a chance to review sample Professional Wills. Participants use of a worksheet and references will allow them to compile the information they will need to formulate their own Professional Wills.
Goals and Objectives:
At the conclusion of this workshop, participants will be able to:
1) Participants will be able to identify the relevant ethical principles for clinical social workers that support having a Professional Will.
2) Participants will be able to identify the major components of a Professional Will
3) Participants will understand the steps in constructing and updating a Professional Will.
About the Presenter:
Dr. Lewis is a clinical psychologist in private practice since 1979. She teaches part-time at CSUF, has been adjunct faculty at the California School of Professional Psychology and in the Marriage and Family Therapy program at the MBBS, and other universities. She supervised interns and has been a consultant.
This course meets the qualifications for 1.5hrs of CE credit for LCSWs, LMFTs, and LPCCs as required by the CA BBS. PCE #1
